Between Highways
Opening: November 14, 2015 7pm- 11
Between Highways is a collaborative show between digital artist and filmmaker Darin Acosta and photographer Breonne DeDecker that focuses on the real and imagined spaces where overuse and underuse collide: outside of the levees, underneath the bridges, beyond the tax zones that incentivize development. The show features a mounted computer station running a digital media gallery featuring a 2D side-scrolling video game set in the near future of Norco, Louisiana; an interactive map that explores the industrialized and dehumanized landscapes of the River Parish region; and several short films that target similar themes. The digital gallery will be accompanied by large format color photographs of under-utilized environments, heavily impacted by development and yet largely absent of humans.
